How to
get help
One person makes this app, and the same person answers the email.

Expect a reply within two working days. It helps to say which device you are on, which version of iOS it is running, and what you did just before the problem appeared. If something looks wrong on screen, a screenshot answers the question faster than a paragraph.
Feature requests are welcome at the same address. So is being told the app is wrong about something — particularly anything in a health timeline.
02 — Questions
Asked most often
- I forgot to open the app. Have I lost my streak?
- No. You cannot lose a streak that way — it is the one thing this app refuses to do. Every past day stays editable forever: open the habit, tap the day in the heatmap, and record what actually happened. A day you never got round to logging is not a failure, and there is no “missed” record to argue with.
- How do I mark a day I genuinely couldn’t?
- Tap the day and choose the amber couldn’t, with a reason if you want one. Amber days are skipped entirely by every calculation. They cannot break a streak and they are not counted against your consistency — a fortnight off shrinks a three-times-a-week target rather than failing it fourteen times.
- I slipped. Does that wipe everything?
- No. Recording a slip restarts the counter from that day, and keeps the run you had just ended as well as your best ever run. Nothing is deleted for being honest.
- I am getting a new phone. How do I take my history with me?
- Open the You tab and use Backup to write your whole history out as a single JSON file. Move that file to the new device however you like, then use the same panel to read it back in.
- Do I need an account? Where is my data stored?
- There is no account, no sign-in and no server. Everything lives in a database inside the app on your own device. That is also why there is no sync: with nowhere to send it, there is nothing to sync through.
- How do I delete everything?
- Delete the app. Your history goes with it, because that is the only place it ever was — there is no copy on a server for us to hold. If you might want it later, export a backup file first.
- What is the morning pledge, and do I have to use it?
- No. It is a promise you can make at the start of a day to the things you are stopping, because deciding in the morning is different from reporting at night. Not making one costs nothing and is not recorded anywhere — the app never counts a day you did not pledge as a day you failed. You can also take a pledge back.
- Can I track something I do several times a day?
- Yes. Give the habit a daily target and a name for the unit — eight glasses, ten pages — and it fills up through the day instead of being one tick. The day counts as done when you reach the target; below it, it is part-filled, which is not the same as a miss.
- Can I keep work and personal habits apart?
- Yes. Make a set in the You tab, put habits in it, and a switcher appears at the top of Today. Everything narrows with it, including your statistics, so a work streak never dilutes a personal percentage. Habits you do not put in a set show under all of them, so nothing ever disappears when you switch.
- Where does the health information come from?
- Every step in a recovery timeline names its source — the NHS, the CDC, the NIDA, the NIAAA — and the full list of sources is at the foot of each timeline. Anything that cannot be sourced is marked commonly reported rather than dressed up as fact, and the behavioural timelines say outright that they are experience rather than published physiology.
- Is there a web version?
- No, and there will not be one. Days Strong is an app for the device you carry: iPhone and iPad. This site is only the three pages you can see.
- Is the health information medical advice?
- No. The recovery timelines are general guidance, not medical advice, and they are worded as what is commonly reported rather than as a promise about you. Stopping some things — alcohol and certain drugs above all — can be genuinely dangerous to do suddenly and without help. Talk to a doctor first. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services straight away.
- Can I get a refund?
- Refunds are handled by the store you bought it from, not by us. Use reportaproblem.apple.com. If something is broken, write to us first — it may be quicker to fix than to refund.
- Something is broken and the app will not start.
- Force-quit and reopen it first; if that fails, restart the device. Before reinstalling, export a backup if you can still reach the You tab, because reinstalling removes the local database along with the app. Then write to us with the device and version and we will look at it.
